Tried something called “slugburger” in Tuscaloosa. Still not sure if it’s a rite of passage or a dare. I’m up for culinary adventures, but I draw the line at anything that wiggles.
What’s the strangest thing you’ve eaten on the Alabama trail? Anyone else brave enough for the mystery meat ...

Tuscaloosa’s Weirdest Food: What Did I Just Eat?
Ordered something called a “slugburger.” Still unsure if it had slugs. Tasted better than it looked. Anyone got photos of local weird eats? #tuscaloosa #weirdeats

Just getting there’s an adventure
Boat was late when I went—something about “weather” (as if that explains anything). Locals were betting on whether the next ferry would land or get blown to Muck. The sheep aren’t pets; don’t ask me how I know.

RE: Lindsborg, Kansas: Prairie Charm Meets Swedish Sass
Prairie grass, wild sunflowers, a Dala horse on every corner, and a local who tried to convince me lutefisk is “delicious if you close your eyes.”
Long-tail: best small towns Kansas, Swedish-American festivals, Smoky Valley things to do, Lindsborg travel review.
Still craving that Viking burger.

Las Vegas, Nevada: Strip, Fremont, Eats, Regrets (Confessions of a RiverRambler)
So here’s the thing: Las Vegas, Nevada, is the only place I’ve ever gone where I lost money before I got out the rental car. I swear, just crossing the county line my wallet got lighter. But Vegas is one of those places you have to see to belive—brightest place on earth, most buffets per capita, and ...

RE: Arches National Park: Stone Arches & Red Rock Wonders
Delicate Arch at sunset is something else—stood there with a hundred strangers and felt like we were all in on a secret. Best advice: skip the mid-day heat. Also, Quesadilla Mobilla gets my vote for best food truck in Moab.

RE: Olympic National Park: Rainforests, Beaches, and Mystery
Met a couple on the Spruce Railroad Trail who swore they’d seen Bigfoot. All I found were epic views and the best blackberry pie in the region (try Granny’s Café outside Port Angeles). Olympic is wild—just how I like it.
