I drove into Petrified Forest National Park expecting a quick roadside detour—and left with about 50 photos, a bag full of red Arizona dust, and a healthy respect for Mother Nature’s sense of time. This park is more than fossilized wood: it’s a mind-bending mix of ancient logs, rainbow-hued badlands, and eerie quiet you only find miles from civilization.

Highlights:
- **Blue Mesa Trail**: Short, surreal hike through purple, blue, and white striped hills—felt like walking on another planet.
- **Crystal Forest**: Petrified logs everywhere, some with quartz that glitters in the sun. Remember, take only pictures (the rangers are watching).
- **Painted Desert Overlook**: Sunset here turns the entire landscape into an artist’s palette. I saw pink, orange, lavender…maybe even green after a long drive.

Pro tips:
- Don’t rush—there are plenty of easy stops along the park road.

Great write-up! The Agate House ruins are a must if you like a little archaeology with your geology—imagine building a home out of petrified logs!
