Hermann, Missouri: Prost from America’s German Wine Country

Rolled into Hermann just as the Mayfest parade was rolling down the street. If you’ve never seen a marching band in lederhosen, you’re missing out. Sampled four kinds of bratwurst before noon (don’t judge), washed it all down with a flight at Stone Hill Winery.
Stumbled into a polka dance, met a guy named Klaus who claimed to have stomped grapes with both feet AND hands. Can’t prove it wasn’t true.
Anyone else here for the wine or the weird? What’s your go-to spot in Hermann? Also, did I buy a pretzel the size of a dinner plate? Of course I did.

the bread at Doxie Slush is worth the carbs. Got sunburned at the wineries, not even mad.

Nearly got run over by a parade goat. Didn’t spill my Riesling though! ??

My advice: pace yourself, the tastings sneak up on you. Shoutout to the accordion player at Tin Mill.

Pretzels, wine, and the river view—Hermann is my happy place. Anyone ever camped at the city park?
